Swiss exports of gold to the United States increased to 111.7 tons in April, representing the largest monthly total on record, as shipments to other destinations declined, according to the customs data.
The United States accounted for 85% of the total sent from Switzerland to destinations such as India and Hong Kong, destinations which generally receive ten tonnes of metal from Switzerland each month.
As friction between Washington and Beijing increases, and protests engulfed the US, gold gained on money. Gold sees resistance at $1,750. Silver is currently at its highest price since February 25.
